Andreas Bennetzen or Andy Benz – is a danish musician and composer. Born 1975 in Copenhagen.
Trained as a classical musician with a PhD in solo double bass, he has over 20 years of experience as a professional musician. He has worked with all the major symphony orchestras in Denmark, and a long list of artists from the pop, rock and electronic music scenes.
For the past 15 years he has been exploring new and original approaches to the double bass and its role as a modern solo instrument.
His pioneer work in the field includes composing and performing with electric upright basses. Developing live-looping techniques and integrating a vast number of electronic effects and Ableton Live into his extensive solo and performance work.
He has released 2 solo-albums under his alias Andy Benz. ”Flowing in Circles” and ”Disciples”.
He currently resides in the danish freetown of Christiania where he composes and records music in his home studio. He has his own recording label called Arbolis Music.
Andreas is a Yamaha Silent Bass Artist and has a long relationship with Pöllmann Double basses and Pirastro Strings
